The alert went out after ex-con Adam Jaworski of Garfield snatched two bottles of Johnnie Walker black from a local liquor store and fled on a bicycle during Monday’s snowstorm, Capt. Shawn Kudlacik said.

Imbruglia stopped Jaworski – who was wearing an orange winter hat and black jacket and face mask – across the street from police headquarters after hearing a description from Officer Szymon Popek, Kudlacik said.

Jaworski, 28, suddenly bolted but was grabbed a short time later by Popek following a struggle in a backyard, the captain said.

It wasn’t a first for either him or the chief.

Jaworski has a criminal history for mostly drug-related petty offenses in Bergen and Passaic counties but also served prison time following a conviction for criminal trespassing and eluding police at substantial risk of injury.

Imbruglia's officers have grown accustomed to seeing the boss on calls.

The chief made headlines last year after he captured an Elmwood Park man moments after a gas station attendant was pistol-whipped during a $2,000 robbery.
